On December 11, 2000, the Baltimore Sun ran an article about a young man named Wes Moore who had overcome his troubled childhood and had just been awarded The Rhodes Scholarship.  That same paper also ran an article about a young man, also named Wes Moore, who had just been arrested for the murder of an off-duty police officer. It turns out the boys lived in the same neighborhood, were about the same age, were both from a single-parent household and had both been raised with the same economic means.  Why had the boys chosen two completely different paths for their lives?
